The FA Community Shield is the Super Cup of England. In the FA Shield, the champion of the Premier League and the champion of the FA Cup compete against each other to determine the ultimate champion of England.
If the champion of the Premier League and the FA Cup are the same team, the double winner plays against the soccer team that finished 2nd in the Premier League standings.
In season 2022-2023, Manchester City won the double, so City will play the FA Community Shield against the 2nd in the Premier League, which is Arsenal.
The match is believed to be played in early August and is traditionally seen as the start of the new season.
